Efforts of K. G. College in Women Empowerment

K. G. College has been a strong proponent of gender equality and women empowerment since its inception. The institution, established in 2007 by the Shri Kesharchand Gulabchand Munot Newaskar Sarvajanik Trust, has consistently worked towards creating opportunities for women in education and entrepreneurship.

One of the significant aspects of K. G. College is its remarkable contribution to women’s education, as reflected in the high percentage of female faculty members and the substantial enrollment of girl students. Taking this mission forward, the college recently introduced the Late Shrimati Icharajbai Hastimalji Munot Entrepreneurship Award 2025, which aims to recognize and honor deserving women from Ahmednagar city who have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields.

This year, the college expanded its outreach beyond its own boundaries to identify and felicitate outstanding women from Ahilyanagar city. After receiving several nominations, the selection committee conducted a thorough survey to identify truly deserving candidates. As a result, four exceptional women were chosen for the award:

Prof. Medhatai Kale – She pioneered the establishment of the first cooperative bank in Ahmednagar, significantly benefiting women in financial independence and empowerment.

Dr. Jotsna Daule – She founded the first IVF center in Ahmednagar almost 25 years ago, revolutionizing fertility treatment in the region.

Mrs. Savita Kale – She established a skill development center for differently-abled students, teaching them essential vocational skills such as file making, chalk making, and other handicrafts, enabling their financial independence.

Mrs. Asha Tathed – A talented cook who turned her passion into a profession during a crisis, exemplifying resilience and entrepreneurship.

The grand felicitation program was organized at Keshargulab Mangal Karyalaya, Ahilyanagar, on March 8th, in celebration of International Women’s Day. The chief guest for the event was Chayatai Firodiya, an exemplary leader who has successfully managed multiple educational institutions. During the program, Prof. Dr. Swati Munot presented insights on K. G. College’s women empowerment initiatives and future plans.

Mr. Kishor Munot, Trustee Director, shared cherished memories of his mother, highlighting her role as a social entrepreneur who supported his father, Shri Hastimalji Munot, a prominent cooperative banker and leader. His words emphasized the importance of women’s contributions in shaping a progressive society.

The event was skillfully compered by Dr. Varsha Kirtane, vote of thanks is given by Prof. Aarti Khedkar at this time Trust Secretary Mr. Lalchand Munot was also present to extend his support. The program witnessed the participation of numerous students, guest professors from other colleges, and well-wishers, making it a truly impactful and inspiring event.

Through such initiatives, K. G. College continues to champion the cause of women empowerment, paving the way for future generations of women leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers.
